Sean Rainey - Golden Garden small timepiece pendant

This beautiful recycled piece consists of a vintage watch movement featuring a large golden sunflower, flanked by two tiny bees.

The vintage watch movement is approximately 26-30mm diameter and the chain is 60cm.

The sunflower and bees, and the chain are made from brass and plated in gold.  Lead free and nickel free.

About the Artist: Sean has been making recycled jewellery for well over a decade.  As a child, he used to love building little car and plane models, and later on, he developed a penchant for gadgets.  This passion has now flowed into jewellery making.

Artistic Process:  Sean rescues found objects that would have been otherwise discarded and gives them new life as jewellery pieces.  Recycled components are usually in the form of intricate vintage timepieces and nostalgic coins from Aotearoa, but he has also used military buttons, metal milk tokens and even old bullets to give them a better life.  He uses his silversmithing skills to combine lovely recycled elements with  nature- themed charms and embellishments and finishes each piece by hand.
