About the Artist:Crafted by Hand, Made by Nature. Suri Alpaca Breeder & Fibre Artist, Maree, uses the fleeces from her alpaca herd and flock of fine merino sheep, in her handcrafted work, showcasing and promoting Natural Fibres, under the name of The Alpaca Attic Studio, which is based at Suri Fino Alpaca Stud, North Canterbury, NZ.
Artistic Process: Handcrafted using a resist method, the fibres are laid out in many layers, and wet felted by hand, then shaped into a bowl. The thickness of the layers gives it structure, and once naturally dried, each bowl is lightly sprayed with a fabric stiffener for lasting strength.
